Nancy R. Thomas Fine Art
My goal as an artist is to spend as much time in the studio as possible and when not in the studio to be observing all of God's creation around me. I am so thankful to have an eye for beauty and to be able to see it in obscure places.
Painting is about learning how to see. Once a painter, nature is never observed in the same manner. As an artist, I am constantly forming compositions in my mind, looking for something that will lead the viewer's eye into a painting. Ever searching for contrast and simplifying complex scenes into large masses visually. It is not the artist's job to paint every leaf on the tree but to look instead for the large shapes.
I enjoy painting what is around me daily for it is what one knows best that one can translate into a good painting.
